An alumnus of the USU ceramics program, Megan Mitchell created Landscape and Lace for her 2012 MFA thesis exhibition at USU. The internationally renowned program advocates utilizing regional clay and energy efficient firing practices to create a sustainable ceramics practice. Mitchell’s wall installation, which contains twenty-seven wall tiles, depicts the landscape of Cache Valley. Here, Mitchell combines landscape imagery with geometric forms and decorative patterns, ideas she continues to explore today.
